Tooth Extractions
Extractions are done as a way to preserve your oral health and remove problematic teeth. In some cases, you may need to have teeth removed because of advanced gum disease. In other cases, you'll need an extraction because you have an impacted wisdom tooth. We always perform extractions in our office in a safe, comfortable and relaxed manner at your own convenience.
Why are Tooth Extractions needed?
At Rio Dental Studio, our last resource is the tooth extraction. We do our best to save the tooth but sometimes the tooth is too damaged or infected, and leaving it there would cause you serious health problems and untreatable pain. These situations include:
- Impacted wisdom teeth
- Loose or severely decayed teeth
- Teeth that are cracked or broken below the gum line
- Stubborn baby teeth
- You're looking to avoid having additional treatment done
Who is a candidate for Tooth Extractions?
A thorough examination with X-rays will determine if the tooth extraction is a good option for you. Other treatments, if possible, will also be presented. Some patients with suceptibility for infections and bleeding may have to have special care for the extractions.
What happens during a Tooth Extraction?
First step is to numb the area of the tooth. Once you are comfortable, the doctor will extract your tooth and stop the bleeding. You may need bone graft, absorbable compression, and stitches. You will leave with no pain, biting a gauze, with aftercare instructions and prescription, and with a follow-up visit scheduled in one week.
If you think you might need a tooth extraction, call our office today and we will be happy to get you in for an appointment.
